Ilda Labrecque Youth Spotlight

As we enter 2026 and our 12th year in business, we have spent some time reflecting on our history and how we could pay homage to our roots.
In our discussions about all the people who had a part in what Painted Door on Main is today, one name stood out. Ilda Labrecque was one of the original members of the Artists' Association of Beaumont. A group that has been in Beaumont since 1986 and who worked together to open the Painted Door in 2014. Being one of the founding members of Painted Door on Main, she had a significant role in what we have become.In addition, Ilda taught art classes to youth out of the back of our building for many years. She passed on her love of art to countless people over her long career. Read her full bio here 

Supporting our community's youth has always been something we wanted to do on a bigger scale. We see more children, teens and young adults making the Painted Door their go-to for all things handmade. It's very evident, that the next generation of artist and artisans and those who value shopping local is alive and well in our community and we hope that we are having a small part in that.

Ilda Labrecque Youth Spotlight
We will give youth the opportunity to join us for a minimum 6-month term. If selected, you will be joining over 150 other Canadian artists and artisans in showcasing your work in our boutique space in the heart of downtown Beaumont. As our youth spotlight recipient, you will receive your contract at a discounted rate.
